Toshiba Laptop Sound Issues

If your Toshiba Laptop audio is not working correctly, please try the following steps…

Check your sound settings

Make sure the sound and microphone are coming from the correct place – right click on the sound icon in the task bar and choose sound settings.

Windows Updates

Install all windows updates

If you are unsure how to check for windows updates – click here

Make sure you check online for updates

Update your sound drive (X20)

Download and install the latest audio driver for your machine from the Dynabook (Toshiba) website

Click on Audio and choose the latest Realtek Audio Driver

Sound still not working

There may be a hardware issue.

In the meantime –

For your microphone – plug a pair of earbuds into the headphone socket – this may be enough to get you going.

Arranging a Repair

In some cases this can be done via school (not during lockdown) and only if the laptop is under warranty
